SCCM 2012 R2 CU4

Recent change CU1-4

This was all working until recently. The SMSTS log shows no failures. The Netsetup.log has no entries. The Panther\setupact.log shows a few odd things " [msoobe.exe] Failed to open event to start up services [0x80070002]" but then appears to proceed fine.

The account used for Domain join is not locked out. I have no log telling me why it is not working. I have refreshed the drivers on the DP just incase the NIC driver got corrupt, though it appears to be fine in device manager and works.

I am just lost as I don't have any log that shows me any real failures and since SCCM passes the Domain Join off to the OS I don't know where else to look.

It is similar. This information is for a new Task Sequence I created. The domain join was the focus of the test and this is the result. I decided to separate the two problems as I thought it might get me more help to focus one problem.

Panther logs should give the answer, but were I a guessing man your domain join account is probably missing appropriate permissions.   Remember that _any_ account can join a computer to a domain 10 times before it starts throwing out errors ... so sometimes you may think your OU permissions are correct when they aren't

1. Check if the account which you are using to join is having the access or not. What is the status of account disabled/locked?

2. Check the smsts.log file for more detail.

3. Check SCCM task sequence reporting.

I made the account used to join the domain a DA to eliminate permission issues. This has not changed the results. I will look for the billionth time at the logs.

Panther log. I know it shows an error for product key, I run a script afterward to take care of that. I did notice that the network init shows an error which I believe translates to access denied. Denied to what is my question.

I found a solution though it seem odd that only this combination worked.

1.Created new task sequence with Wizard.

2.Used different account for Joining Domain.

Each one of these steps done separately did not work. I had previously tried a new account, a custom task sequence and the wizard. I can't figure out what the difference with combining a different account with the wizard is. Something definitely changed going from CU0-4.
