MS Access Reports Queries to SQL
Hello, I migrated sucessfully the databases and data from MS Access 2007 to SQL 2008 R2. Is it possible to get the Reports and queries migrated as well? Hello Dom, Yes, you can ... partically and if you mean migrate to SSRS = Sql Server Reporting Services. Open BIDS = "Business Intelligence Developer Studio" and start a new "Report Server Project". Then open in menu "Project" => "Import Reports" => "Microsoft Access ..." and follow the wizard.Olaf Helper * cogito ergo sum * errare humanum est * quote erat demonstrandum * Wenn ich denke, ist das ein Fehler und das beweise ich tglich Blog Xing

Olaf is right (in theory). The problem is, the Access Report import wizard is ... well, lame. It does not import any but the simplest reports. I did a presentation on this a couple of years ago and had four (dense) PPT slides on the unsupported features that did not migrate. IMHO, it's best to take a screen-shot of the report and try to work from there. hth__________________________________________________________________ William Vaughn Author, Mentor, Trainer, MVP Beta V Corporation William Vaughn's blog Hitchhikers Guide to Visual Studio and SQL Server (7th Edition) The Owl Wrangler a fantasy fiction novel Please click the Mark as Answer button if a post solves your problem!

Hello Felyjos, You can keep your Access front end and you need link tables to SQL server (make sure they have the same names as before upsizing/migrating). So all reporting Access queries stay as they are. Use a server-side trace/profiler to capture SQL queries when you run Access reports and it will be your starting point to convert your complex Access queries with unsupported features (mentioned by William Vaughn) to stored procedures/views/sql queries.Sergei
