The easiest way is to use the MPtroubleshooter from the Configuration Manager Toolkit V2. It's a GUI that will run thru the needed checks to see if you MP is working or not.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

I would fist check MPLIST and MPCERT. Also some of the log files like IIS and MPCONTROL.log files. The best way to check the clients are getting policies or not is to go through IIS logs of the server.Anoop C Nair - Twitter @anoopmannur MY BLOG: http://anoopmannur.wordpress.com SCCM Professionals This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

Did you check the log files which I mentioned above ? Filter the IIS logs with the IP address of the system which you want to check so that you can findout that system is downloading the policies or packages.Anoop C Nair - Twitter @anoopmannur MY BLOG: http://anoopmannur.wordpress.com SCCM Professionals This posting is provided AS-IS with no warranties/guarantees and confers no rights.

First you need to figure out if the problem is with the MP or the client. 1) Do other clients have same problems? If No, the probles lies with a specifc client 2) On the client, check the policyagent.log file, if that doesn't give you anything check the clientlocation, locationservices and clientidstartupmanager.log files all on the client to see if the client is correctly assigned to the site. 3) If the client is correcly assigned, then I suggest you use Client Center and initiate a hard policy reset on the client, that has helped me several times in the past.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

In normal case, you should have some monitoring mechanism which checks MP health check scripts (MPLIST and MPCERT) in a regular interval. This will give you some idea like MP is not working or not. If health check fails 1. Check the MPCONTROL.LOG for any errors. 2. Check the IIS logs to find out any of the client is able download policies or packages. From these two steps you will get some idea MP is really having an issue or not.
