MP selection for PXE

In the following scenario where there are 2 MP's - 1 is HTTPs and the other is HTTP, is there a way to specify which MP is used during PXE? Both MPs are in the same boundary group. (One primary site with 2 MPs).  Alphabetically, the HTTPs MP will be first in the list.

I've read this and I believe the answer to be no.

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a5c0d086-c149-4b1a-95b0-6cbb633b4c5c/pxe-boot-osd-connects-to-internetonly-management-point-a-bug?forum=configmanagerosd

So, if this is correct, moving the HTTPs MP out of the boundary group and into another boundary group will accomplish nothing?

I assume then that this is also the case for site assignment - it doesn't matter what boundary group the MP is in, the client will always pick the HTTPs one first - as referenced here: (unless the MP is specified during client install)

Hi,

1. MP affinity was added in SCCM 2012 R2 Cu3 through a registry value and in SCCM 2012 R2 sp1 through the UI. http://blogs.technet.com/b/jchalfant/archive/2014/09/22/management-point-affinity-added-in-configmgr-2012-r2-cu3.aspx So it should be possible now.

2. Site assignment? Site assignment is used to for the Client to determine which SCCM Site it belongs to if you for instance deploy it as Auto. If you mean which MP it will choose per default it is Always the HTTPS one if the factors in the above post that you referedded to i fullfilled.

Thanks Jorgen.

However, one comment in that post, "This method cant be used to defeat the HTTPS preference over HTTP management point(s)." is really what we're trying to do (use HTTP vs. HTTPs).  So, it goes back to my original question of, as long as there is an HTTPs MP, regardless of what boundary group, PXE will use it?  Someone also posted:

Yes, we also wonder about Task Sequence and unknown computers. How can we force MP communication in WINPE ?

  •  And the answer was:

You could try creating site based media, but this solution is not designed for WinPE.

Or am I totally missing something here?
