MP install issues
I am trying to install a management point to a remote virtual that is also a branch DP. The DP seems to be working fine but I am seeing the following errors when trying to put a MP on the box. I am not even seeing the mpsetup.log on the target system. I thought maybe the problem was due to me forgetting to make the system a member of the SCCM Site systems group, so I fixed that and then did a removeal of the MP and then readded it. 1) You can only have one active MP pr. site. Not sure why you are installing it on a BDP. 2) Check the mpmsi.log and mpsetup.log files.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

If you can only have one per site does that mean you can only have them with primary sites since a secondary site uses it's parents site code? I am useing a BDP on 2K8 server in Austraila becuase I only have 80 systems there. Our Microsoft CE that has been here to help with the install and training suggested staying away from secondary sites because he said we don't need all the extra communication hassles that go with a site. The reason I wanted a MP there was to give the clients a local system to talk to and then let that one MP system do the bulk of the talking to the central site. I know that the clients will still do some direct talking to the central site but I was hoping to minimize it.

I will recommend setting up date Secondary site in Australia. It requires very little configuration and gives you the best way to control traffic. Futhermore you can configure a MP on a secondary site, that's not an option for a BDP.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund
