MP and SMP error
Dear All,
I have a problem with MP and SMP(only on child primary site)on all SCCM primary and secondary site servers. In our infrastructure we have 1 central site, 2 child primary site 27 secondary site. all are running windows 2003 sp2 64 bit OS. All secondary
sites are installed on VMs.
I have checked the logfiles mpcontrol.log file and found below messages -
MP Control Manager detected management point is not responding to HTTP requests.
The HTTP status code and text is 500, Internal Server Error.
After some time i see below messages -
Call to HttpSendRequestSync succeeded for port 80 with status code 200, text: OK SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER
Http test request succeeded. SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER
Successfully performed Management Point availability check against local computer. SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER
Every day i see the same MP and SMP error. Some site shows in critical and some in warning status. I have also checked the System status it shows Ok but component status show critical and waring. For SMP i got the below error under component status(SMS_STATE_MIGRATION_POINT)
-
SMP Control Manager detected SMP is not responding to HTTP requests. The http status code and text is 500, Internal Server Error.
smpmgr.log -
Call to HttpSendRequestSync failed for port 80 with status code 500, text: Internal Server Error SMS_STATE_MIGRATION_POINT Health check request failed, status code is 500, 'Internal Server Error'. SMS_STATE_MIGRATION_POINT
after some time i see below messages -
Call to HttpSendRequestSync succeeded for port 80 with status code 200, text: OK SMS_STATE_MIGRATION_POINT Health check operation succeeded SMS_STATE_MIGRATION_POINT
For MP i have ran the below link on all site servers, it works fine-
http://servername/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist and http://servername/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mpcert
I am really wondering for such error. Is there any way to stop such errors.

Hi John,
Thank you for quick response.
Can you address from where i should start to resolve it. Two things i have in my mind as below -
1. Change SQL service account from local system to domain user account.
2. Set the SQl SPN for the database to SQL service user account.
Please correct me if i am wrong.

make sure it's not when the SCCM backup is running. Or if your DBA or server team has a backup job scheduled that stops SQL.

It happens every day after 6:20 AM in time slots of 20 to 40 mins. two or three times in a day. I have checked that site maintenance task for backup is scheduled from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM every day. DBA has scheduled the job for differential backup
on every day at 11:00 PM and full backup at 11:00 PM on every Sunday at 11:00 PM. two or three site provides SMP error and two or three rpovides MP error messages in a period of one hour.
Please let me know if you need more information.Rakesh Kumar
