MOSS Upload Attachment to List Item 404 page not found
Hi, when some users upload an attachment to a list they receive a 404 Page not found error when they attempt to save the record (not at upload). Other users do not experience this. I have amended permissions and this had no effect and cannot identify a pattern. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, how big are the files they are trying to upload? SharePoint has a default limit of 50mb so that's maybe why you get this error. Cheers,Daniel Bugday Web: SharePoint Forum Blog: SharePoint By Bugday

Hi, the files are less than 1 meg.

Turned out to be something to do with the PDFs being uploaded - although they were named c1, c2 c3 etc MOSS wouldn't save the list item. Upon renaming them the issue disappeared. Only identified as a different machine (same users) threw a naming convention error. Extremely odd.

We are having a similar problem in our WSS 3.0 environment. We have a custom control to attach files to a list item. users do not have contribute privilege but we use elevated privilege to attach the files. Randomly few files dont get attached properly. In the item view page we get to see the document names, but when we click on them we get a "Page not found" error. This happens for all types of document (.xls, .pdf, ppt, ,zip etc), but it is very random. Any idea what could be going wrong?Regards, Mahesh
