MOSS :: page layout
It is very confusing. Some one asked me that could we have WEBPART zone in PAGE layouts, I said no....but I am not sure of it so my question is
QUes 1) can we have webpart zone in page layouts?
Ques 2) In case we cannot have webpart zone, then how could I add a webpart to page layout:?

Yes you can have web part zones in page layouts. Please take a look at these:

When you are in SharePoint Designer, you can add a web part zone to the page layout. To do this, simply click on the zone where you want it, then click Insert > SharePoint Controls > Web Part Zone.Chris Caravajal MCTS SharePoint Help

Hi All,
I have two fields on my custom page layout. Now the requirement is to hide one of then on the basis on user login or sharepoint group .
how is that possible?
