MOSS 2007 inbound email problem.
HiI'm trying to configure inbound email for our MOSS 2007 farm, first some details1 x SQL Server (2005 latest SP)1 x backend MOSS server (Windows 2008, Moss 2007 SP1, MS SMTP Server)1 x Web Front End Server (Windows 2008, Moss 2007 SP1)The mail is coming from our Exchange 2003 via the front end exchange server. The contacts are being created correctly in AD, inbound email is configured on the farm & set to automatic. I can see the email being routed from our exchange org into the MS SMTP server on the backend MOSS server & it sits in the queue directory. Now, the email never turns up in the doc library (which is mail enabled). It seems as sharepoint isn't picking up the mail (The SPTimer job is running and succeeding).Any pointers appreciated!StuOh & it's driving me nuts!

Hello,Did you try to configure your inbound email with "Advanced" setting in theCentral Administration > Operations > Incoming E-Mail Settings?Set your email drop folder at the bottom of the configurationpage and you should be OK. Make sure that your SPtimer account has at least read + delete access to the drop folder.CheersIvan Bondy - MCPD, MCDBA, MCSA, MCTS - Sharepoint consultant

the timer account is a local admin. I have tried with and without advanced, and I did not change the drop folder.

If you go with advanced you need to set Drop folder to your actual location. SharePoint needs exact folder location where to pick up emails. CheersIvan Bondy - MCPD, MCDBA, MCSA, MCTS - Sharepoint consultant

I have seen occasions on which you have to set your list to allow incoming mail from all users, not just list contributors, to get it to work. In these cases, the timer job just throws the messages away without comment.

Stu As per my understanding you emails (emls file ) are stuck in the queue directory Possible cases would be that the SMTP on the box is not working properly For this you can go ahead and copy the couple of email file and past in on your desktop and rename them so you can identify your eml files now drag and drop those files to the pick up folder and see if the eml files are going again to the Queue folder or to Bad mail folder Incase still the email stucks please do check with the your Exchange connector guys to check SMTP settings on the box
