MOSS 2007 Profile Sync
Good day to everyone around, I am facing a rather annoying problem in my MOSS farm - maybe someone can shed some light into it. Farm: - Windows 2003 x64 Enterprise (German) with all the latest updates - MOSS 2007 x64 (German) Build 12.0.0.6529 - SQL 2008 R2 x64 (German) Build 10.50.1746 - 2 frontend, one application (search, excel, etc) 1 database server Background: In mid 2010 we migrated our "old" WSS3 intranet to MOSS2007. During the early days with little Sharepoint experience the "old" intranet was one site collection with several dozen teamsites in it. During the migration to MOSS2007 these teamsites were moved into seperate site collections with stsadm and Gary Lapointe's stsadm extensions. What we did not know at that time was, that moving sites around left those sites marked as "Moving" in the sitesynch table. We only learned about it recently while investigating said problem: changes in the user's MySite are not replicated to the sitecollections we found marked as "Moving = 1". Things done so far: - We used stsadm -o sync -ignoreisactive 1 to take inactive users out of the scenario. - We used stsadm -o preparetomove => stsadm -o deletecontentdb => stsadm -o addcontentdb - We created a small tool that checks all users in the site collection if there is a corresponding ssp user profile. If not the user is deleted from the site collection. - We did IISRESET. - We rebooted the farm - We ran the configuration assistant - We have used the "undo" option with stsadm -o preparetomove to set "Moving = 0". That worked fine. The result was that the Windows Server event log starts showing errors that these sites cannot be synced. The error - I think - is well known here: Event ID 5553, Category: User profiles: failure trying to synch site
for ContentDB
WebApp
. Ausnahmemeldung war Der Benutzer ist nicht vorhanden.. (the text marked in bold says: exception was: the user was not found) - In one of the site collections we deleted all the users manually (using the people list) and then re-added the users to the site (/groups). That worked and the site was in-sync again. However this is not an option as the majority of site collections contain dozens of groups with hundreds of users. ULS Log: In the Sharepoint ULS log the error i basically the same as in the Windows Server log. Turning on verboose mode is not generating more info: 02/16/2011 07:01:31.49 OWSTIMER.EXE (0x090C) 0x1344 SharePoint Portal Server User Profiles 791t Critical failure trying to synch site
for ContentDB
WebApp
. Exception message was Der Benutzer ist nicht vorhanden.. So there is absolutely no details on which user is not found. Well ... I hope someone around here has an idea to this. My major problem is that during my research I have not found a hint towards this error message. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Best regards /Chris
