MOSS 2007 Not Sending Email To Distribution Lists In Exchange 2007
Hi , I just joined this new company and when i was handed over their SharePoint portal i found out that it doesn't sends Email alerts to DLs present in Exchange 2007. I know that for this we have to ENABLE the Incoming Email feature and assign the OU credentials to it. But according to our Active Directory(AD) Administrator , if we create a new OU in AD then it'll create problems in the existing architecture. Please advise what's the best solution in this scenario. Thank you ! Best Regards, Talib Ali Khan

My first thought is a simplistic one, but best to rule it our so that others can help also. Is the OU a security group? If it has this setting has not been configured, it won't be visible in MOSS and thus no alert will be sent.Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/

Hi Steven, Thanks for your reply ! It has been configured as a Distribution Group.

2 things here. As Steven said, It should be a Security Group . Second thing is that , the DL which you have added in Alerts section should have atleast read permissions on the library in order to receive Alerts. If it doesn't have permissions on the library no alerts will be sent. Hope this Helps. Thanks & Regards Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Thanks for your reply Zoeb . Currently i'm waiting for the corresponding AD administrator to show up as he's on vacation and will be available in a couple of days ( 'coz we don't have direct access to manage the AD). Will update you all once i finish this task. Thanks again ..
