MOSS 2007 Event Receivers upgrade to SharePoint 2013 using same classes

Hi,

What could be the potential problems if I use the Event Receivers developed for MOSS 2007, deploy those wsps on SharePoint 2013 site and attach them to the respective lists. I used a third part tool to upgrade my site from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2013.

I am using the old Membership providers for my new web application and everything seems to be working fine.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

Per my knowledge, I suggest you not deploy MOSS 2007 event receiver feature directly to SharePoint 2013. As MOSS 2007 object model is different from SharePoint 2013, so I suggest you can open the MOSS 2007 event receiver solution using Visual Studio 2013 and change the dll reference to SharePoint 2013 version and then deploy via Visual Studio 2013.

Thanks

Thank you for your response Jerry. Helped me think clearly and proceed forward with upgrading my solution in Visual Studio and then deploying it. Every thing worked great except for changing few obsolete lines of code. And all my event receivers work like a charm.
