I am sorry I will post it in correct forum. My question was when I open sharepoint site and create new document library and want to migrate files from other sharepoint repository loaction .There is a menuin doument library called actions when youclick on that " Open with Windows Explorer" option is seen. When you click on that it should open the files in the doument library in the windows explorer window. My problem is when I click on that option nothing happens. and this option is very useful to copy huge number of files from one site location to other. Help appreciated.

Hi Jaya I think you are talking about Explorer view in MOSS, If it is the case, It wont open windows explorer to show your files. In MOSS itself, it opens a explorer and display your files there. You can do bulk manipulations in that view you can copy many files at a point of time, you can delete...like that But Make sure that you relink the documents when you copy them from other sharepoint repository

Hi Jaya78, Look in the Services applet on the client and see if the WebClient service is started. If not, go into it's properties and change it's startup type to Automatic and then start the service - Explorer view should now work fine! Cheers, Bluejay.

My problem is that IDONOTsee this option "Open with Windows Explorer" in my Actions list. WHY. Must Microsoft Office exist on the server that is running Sharepoint OR must the client have Microsoft Office.

Thank you Bluejay, I had the same problem. In my case was a newly installed terminal server, and the sessions could not open the libraries with explorer. Effectively the service was 'Disabled' by default. After enabling it all worked good. Thanks again. Your comment was a timesaver.

I had the same problem you described. Now, it's solved, just by enabling WebClient windows service. Initially was windows service configured to Disabled. So you have to set this service to Automatic mode and start. Hope someone helped this. My developer configuration: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 MOSS 2007 SP2 x64
