MOSS 2007 - Navigation Drop Down doesn't work on site/page creation on non-default web applications
I've been fighting an issue for a few days now that I can't figure out. Here's the deal: On my default SharePoint site (for example http://sharepoint:80) when I create new sites and/or pages under sites they are automatically added to the drop-down tabs for that particular site. On other top level sites (http://sharepoint:43053) when the sites and pages are created they are running horizontally with no drop-down. This is happening on every top level site I create, by the default site works perfectly fine. I am using a publishing collaboration portal for all of the sites and we are running MOSS 2007 Enterprise v12.0.0.6535. *Update* I have compared the default.master page and the DefaultLayout.aspx pages in SharePoint Designer between the pages that work correctly and not, and they appear to be identical. In addition, I created another new database, web application and site collection and it is still not adding the links to different pages or sites under the main navigation tab. IF, however I select the News tab in the new site, pages and sites added under the news tab (which has a working drop-down from the time the site is created) they are added under the news tab! Is this just a limitation of MOSS??

Hi kapwinnnng, MOSS 2007 sites can display drop down menus in the tabbed navigation across the top. Unfortunately there is not an easy check box to activate this functionality, instead things just have to be set up the right way. For more information about how to Activate the Drop Down Menu in MOSS Sites, please refer to the following article: http://www.heathersolomon.com/blog/archive/2007/05/15/SharePoint-Tip--How-to-Activate-the-Drop-Down-Menu.aspx Regards, Rock Wang Microsoft Online Community Support
