MOSS: modify the message that appears on an empty document library
When a users navigates to a document library that has no items, they are given the following message: 'There are no items to show in this view of the "[Document Library Name]" document library. To create a new item, click "New" or "Upload" above.' I would like to modify this message. Does anyone know where I have to go to do so? Thanks, ~Lou

The text comes from the core.resx resource file, located in 12\RESOURCES. It's divided up into four resources; just open the resource file in any text editor and search for "noitemsinview_doclibrary", and you'll find the strings.

Brian, Will I need to do an IIS reset or anything after editing the text on this file? Appreciate it, Lou

If you changed the resource file to implement this change, then, yes, you might need to recycle the app pool or reset IIS for the changes to be reflected. But you shouldn't rely on changes to the system resource files directly - hotfixes or service packs might overwrite your changes.
