MOSS, Windows 7 and Office 2007 - Best way to save documents directly into dooc library from Word
Hi All, I am trying to figure out the best way for users to save a document directly into a SharePoint docment library from Word. When i map a network drive to the site, it works fine however all sites, lists and libraries are displayed as generic folders so it's confusing when trying to navigate to the desired location i.e. you don't know if you are navigating to a sub site or to a list/library apart from by the name. If however I paste the URL of the SharePoint site directly into the File Save As dialog box, the site is displayed and the apppropriate symbols are displayed i.e. a sub site has the site logo next to it. This seems perfect and is very intuitive, just not acceptable to expect users to type the URL every time they want to save a doc. This also works if I add the location to my favorites in windows explorer, just not when using the mapped network drive! Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Hi, I am not 100% on this but i am sure your "My Sharepoint Sites" should automatically populate from your SharePoint server. I only use WSS 3.0 so I don't have this feature. But I do manually insert the site locations in this folder. So when you click save as you should have a "My Sharepoint Sites" link on the left (along with My Network places, My Computer, etc....) and the user can get to there site easily and have the appropriate symbols etc. that your looking for. Just a note on the my sharepoint sites. I believe the user has to set there default site in their mysite. This may help. http://paulliebrand.com/2007/11/29/moss-2007-and-user-memberships/
