MDT boot images for MDT Task Sequence in Configuration manager

Hi,

When we have integrated MDT with configuration manager, is it mandatory to have MDT Boot images as well to support MDT based TS ? or default boot images (x64, x86) that is there in configuration manger could be used with MDT based TS?

Does MDT boot image points to MDT server share in configuration manager? or it still connects with Configuration manager?

Trying to understand the need for MDT boot images in configuration manager when it comes with default boot images already created and available. Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks.

MDT boot images (contain ADO components) are required if you want to query the MDT database. That's it.
Boot images never point to a share. They might contain the MP to be contacted (site based media) which does not come into play in PXE scenarios.
