MBSA 2.3 is unable to scan a remote machine

Hello Experts

I am trying to scan a cloud image machine (in a workgroup) from my machine at office.
Traffic is allowed through firewalls and windows firewall is disabled on both source/targets. I  am getting this error :

Computer has an older version of the client and security database demands a
newer version. Current version is and minmum required version is .

Agent is  the lastest version , I have checked followings

     Server service is enabled

     Workstation service in enabled

File and Print Sharing is enabled

     Remote Registry service is enabled

Automatic Update service  ( this doesn't exist on target or source since I am not running wsus )

You can remotely access the C$ share on the target machine from the machine running MBSA (yes - asks for credentials though.

here is the command :
Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer 2>mbsacli /target <IP> /n iis+sql+OS+Password /catalog c:\msba\wsusscn2.cab /u Administrator /p "<Pass>"

I also checked DCOM settings ; distributed DCOM is enabled and local administrator has proper access in top level and can remotely access DCOm as well . but I couldn't see windows update agent's dcom setting as it's grayed out in 2008 R2.

Any helps would be appreciated.

If I ran MSBA locally on the cloud image , it works fine.

We are seeing the same issue on half of our servers.  Were you able to resolve this?

I ended up running MBSA locally on servers ( using a scheduled task)  and transfer reports to a local server for further processing . trust me it works really good this way .
