Lync 2010 Call Logs & Calendar Not Visible

Hello,

I am new to Lync and Lync was set it up before I arrive to my company so I tried to learn as much as I can but still my knowledge is not enough to solve this issue below.

Suddenly this week Lync Client & HP 4120 phones stopped showing Call Logs and Calendar. If I go to Outlook under Conversation History I can see all the logs but it says Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable on the phone screen. I've checked all the services running and follow so many instructions to fix this issue but nothing. I can see that EWS Information is showing as not deployed on Lync Configuration Information window and I think this is why I lost all the log information.

I cannot update these HP phones as well, there is no activity when I try to update them using Lync CSCP putting the mac address etc. But this is another issue to be checked later, I am just writing this if it's related.

Any suggestions?

Correct, if everything is working fine, the autodiscover entry will be created automatically.

Have you seen this blog, I use it always for troubleshooting EWS.

Thank you very much, I've fixed the logs on Lync Client but HP 4120 Phones still acting weird. I've followed the instructions on your last link and I found out that these DNS records below were removed somehow. Maybe one of my colleagues removed them by mistake.

  • CNAME record for autodiscover.domain.name pointing to exchange CAS array or CAS server in case of no array
  • Service Record _autodiscover._tcp.domain.name port 443 pointing to exchange CAS array or CAS Server name in case of no array

I've learned a lot about the connection mentality of lync on these 2 links above so I really appriciate your helps, thanks a lot.

There is one more issue left. Lync Client & Outlook is ok now EWS deployed correctly and I can see Internal EWS URL correctly. We don't have external clients so I didn't configure the external EWS URL. Will this be a problem for internal users?

Now HP 4120 Phones says that Connection to MS Exchange is unavailable. I've tried to reset to factory settings, restart, wait for days but I cannot even update these devices. I've already installed the latest update to my Lync Server and I can see the new update on CSCP, even approved, created a test device using mac address etc. but nothing. It was never updated before I guess that's why I am having this problem.

How can I check the logs for the update? I am getting Last Update Status (0x5/404) on the phone but I don't know what it means. There is a button "Send Logs" on the phone I use it to send the logs but I don't know where can I see them. What could be the reason about this update issue?
