Lost access to OpsMgr - No Admin can login
OpsMgr was installed shoddily (not by me i may add, i just have to clean the mess up) and the person who did is no longer available to ask questions to regarding it. When i've attempted to login, it keeps saying i have insufficient permissions etc. I've tried all different types of logins including local and domain. I've looked for any groups that may have been created but there isnt any. I've event tried using the persons account who implemented but still the same error. I've only been able to successfully login on the reporting side, none of the admin side. How can i restore access so i can start removing this install? Its on Server 2003, its Ops Mgr 2007 R2, and theres no group that i can find nominated as the admin role. Any help much appreciated.

Hi When the person installed OpsMgr, the default setting is to make Domain Admins the OpsMgr admins. So try with a domain admin account to see if you can log in to the console. If you already are a domain admin then it gets trickier. I would search AD for a group with either SCOM or Admins in the name ... then add your user account to that group. Log out \ back in to the RMS and then try again. Cheers GrahamView OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Nope tried all that before and just did again to make sure. Tried the main administrator account, my account as a domain admin, as an enterprise admin - nothing has worked. Searched for everyword possible for groups or accounts (ops, mgr, opsmgr, operations, manager, scom, system, centre) - nothing. Theres no handover documentation or build guides from the person so i cant even check them.

Hi The other thing to check is the local administrators group on the Root Management Server and the SQL Server. Are there any groups listed there that look potentials? Are the OpsMgr service accounts listed there? You could try logging with one of those?? Cheers GrahamView OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/

Hi No custom local admin groups but tried accounts in the obvious local ones - still no joy. Nothing on the SQL server. There are 2 service accounts; one of them lets me access the reporting side, the other just gets the same insufficient permissions error. The main reason i need access to the admin is to start the work to remove OpsMgr from the network. If for whatever reason i cant restore admin access, is there a clean way to manually unisntall OpsMgr? I'm presuming disconnecting the server and uninstalling all the agents is the main part, i'm just not sure if anything has been written to AD that needs to be removed? Cheers.

Hi Try this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb381407.aspx If you have the AD Management Pack installed then OperationsManagerLatencycounters container is created in AD. Cheers GrahamView OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/
