Lookup function in SSRS 2008 R2 not returning a match from an oracle dataset
Has anyone successfully (or knows otherwise) used a lookup function with string/varchar fields that match between a sqlserver 2008 r2 database and an Oracle 10g table? Kind regards

I have successfully managed a simple lookup on oracle varchar2 fields vs sqlserver nvarchar. So far, I cannot use concat fields to do a lookup. Any further ideas anyone?

Hi mal0r, According to your description, I am not very sure of why you could not use lookup function to return matching value, could you please supply more information about the issue? Such as the expression you are using to concat fields via lookup function to return value, and waht kind of dataset you are using for the report and so on. And then, we could help you better. For more information about Lookup function, please refer to the following article, Lookup Function (Report Builder 3.0 and SSRS): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210531.aspx If you have any question, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Eileen

Hi Eileen, I found the cause of my problem. In the report design, I am using date-pickers to supply query parameters with date values. In the Oracle query text, I was trying to format the already date-time parameters into an Oracle date with the TO_DATE function. In the end, I discovered that I don't need to use the TO_DATE function because the date-time type parameters will work un-changed.
