Lookup Field
Hi there,

i have 2 calendars. one calendar (1st calendar) has a field which looks up to the other calendar's (2nd calendar) field.

what is the best practice of look up, as ultimately, 2nd calendar will hit 5000 records and got hung?

if we purge the 5000 records calendar, then it will affect the look up.

5000 records will not make such a big problems in SharePoint lookup fields, however you can implement some solution to filter these records as one is discussed in the following post.

Thanks Shoaib. I have read the solution. However i have one question.

In fact my 1st calendar has a dropdown list that will get the list/info from one of the field in 2nd calendar.

1. How to go about doing this?

2. In anyway the 2nd calendar will still hit 5000 records when it grows. can i purge the data away once it hits 5000?

You can also customize a autocomplete field,  get data from another list dynamically.
