Log Last Accessed By and Date
I have a custom list with a column 'Document Library URL' (some other columns and with Group By). The list has more than 100 records. Each 'Document Library URL' points to a different Document Library. What I would like to track is who accessed the document library and what date (NOT Last Modified information). I am not a Site collection administrator, not a sharepoint developer. I do not have access to Central administration. What are the easy options for me to accomplish the above requirement ? I have access to an SQL database in our network to store the info if needed. I am thinking of one option and I am not sure if it is correct and most efficient way. Two coulmns would be added to the custom list for storing the 'Last Accessed By' and 'Last Accessed Date' information. May be I can have a Web Part (probably Content Editor Web Part) with the appropriate code to retrieve Current User info, Date and URL information. The URL retrieved is verified against the custom list 'Document Library URL' column and the corresponding item is updated with the Current User (Last Accessed By) and Date (Last Accessed Date) information. If custom list cannot be updated through code, may be maintaining the information in an SQL table outside sharepoint would be the solution. I would appreciate any feedback / helpful info / code examples. Thanks

If you were administrator you could use the usage reports. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263054.aspx

I am not sure how much usage reports are helpful with 'Accessed By' and 'Accessed Date' information (From reading, they tend to be focussed on 'Modified' rather than 'Accessed'). Also, from what I read, Usage reports default to only 30 days and takes lot of time to filter out the information that you need. I am interested in only 'Last Accessed By' and 'Last Accessed Date' information on a set of dcoument libraries (100+) under site collection. The main reason for the focus on 'Last Accessed Date' information is to identify the 'Document Libraries' which are not accessed for a while (say for 6 months) and take appropriate action.
