Local Session Manager service

The default setting for this service is Automatic. I am troubleshooting a computer with Windows 8.1 Enterprise installed where the StartUp type is Boot. You cannot change the Start Up type in the normal way.

The owner of the computer is complaining of excessive disk utilisation and an overlong boot.

Comments please.

Hi Gerry,

The Local Session Manager Service is a part of Windows operating system, it handles with all sessions of a system  either the remote desktop sessions or local system sessions, and it is a critical Windows process and must keep running all the time and users should not try to remove or delete it.

By default, the StartUp type is automatic and can't be changed, this is by design.

For your issue, I recommend you use resource monitor to check why there is an issue about high disk utilization and overlong boot.
