Live meeting v806362.215 won't install with sccm 2012

I'm trying to install Live Meeting 2007 client v806362.215 under SCCM 2012 application model using the .MSI.  "I get a message that says the installer was interrupted before Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 could be installed.  You need to restart the installer to try again." (see attached)

researching the message indicates that there was an issue with the elevated permissions (system account) that the install was trying to use.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,  msiexec /i "lmconsole.msi" /l*v c:\users\public\install.log fails with error code 1603.  You can try couple of things - 1. run the installation manually with  msiexec /i "lmconsole.msi" /l*v c:\users\public\install.log and current directory as C:\windows\ccmcache\77  and see if that works.   2. Try changing the log location to something like %temp%\install.log

command line works fine manually.  However, when deployed via SCCM App Model and elevated to run with local system rights, it fails!  it appears that LMconsole.msi doesn't allow this elevation of permission to happen.  I would be curious to have someone else try this in their SCCM 2012 environment.

I can also attest that the MSI will not install via SCCM 2012.  Did you ever find a solution?

Try this:

  • Get psexec.exe (sysinternals suite)
  • Open cmd, run psexec.exe -s cmd ...this will open a new cmd prompt with SYSTEM privililedges
  • Run the installation command with SYSTEM account, write the log file to some appropriate place
  • If the installation fails, exam the MSI log

I am having this exact issue with lmconsole.msi and SCCM 2012... error code 1603

Did you ever come up with a solution or a workaround?

Thanks!

I had a quick look at this, couldn't find the same version but the same issue seems to happen with version 7.9.2107.0

There is a custom action that fails to return a successful exit code when the install runs under the system account.

CustomAction SetInstallCookie returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

When not run under the system account.

MSI (s) (58:70) [19:20:36:808]: Note: 1: 2235 2:  3: ExtendedType 4: SELECT `Action`,`Type`,`Source`,`Target`, NULL, `ExtendedType` FROM `CustomAction` WHERE `Action` = 'SetInstallCookie'
MSI (s) (58:14) [19:20:36:808]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\Windows\Installer\MSI9419.tmp, Entrypoint: SetInstallCookie
Action ended 19:20:36: SetInstallCookie. Return value 1.

3073 = makes no difference, you could set the custom action not to check the exit code with ORCA but I would raise it with the Vendor.

Your not doing anything wrong in SCCM.

Whether it helps or not I'm seeing the same error using SCCM 2007 R2 SP2. The same install is working today with our current standard image deployed using OSD. However when I attempt to run the install on our new image (has newer patches, IE11, and .NET 4.5.2) I receive the 1603 error when running CustomAction SetInstallCookie with the 8.0.6312.215 installer.

My plan is to try using the 8.0.6312.229 installer to see if the error goes away. I've also seen on other posts that cracking the MSI open to adjust when this CustomAction is run may yield a fix.

Did you get this working?

I was never able to deploy live meeting with elevated credentials in my SCCM 2012 environment.
