List permissions based on Person/Group field in the list
I have a custome list that has lots of fields but I have 2 person/group fields (Owner and Viewer) Is there any way to assign read only permissions on the list iteam to the user if thay are in the viewers field. I have looked at site groups but it gets too complex and I was hoping that there was a way to do this at a list item level using the fields. Thanks Kenny

I dont think so that is possible through out of box. But there is one more to do this. If like You will have to create a user group and give read only permission. When you create person or Group column in library then you will have to select "Sharepoint Group:" from "Choose From" option. Now you can create a Custom View for viewer. I have looked at this solution and am using it as another part of the site. My problem is that unless i can figure out a way to do this I am looking at 250 users x lots of documents worth of ACLs it will become an administrative nightmare. Kenny
