Linking to documents between libraries
Hi I wonder if it is possible to create links between document in different libraries? What i want to achieve is for a user to access a document library but be able to open other documents that may be located in other libraries within the sharepoint site (so not having to navigate to a different area). It seems Sharepoint is not happy with shortcut links in libraries. If this is not possible does anybody have a very simple workaround? Thanks Gavin

You could create a lookup field to specify what other document(s) a document is linked. From there, create connected web parts such that when the primary doc is selected, the child documents are displayed. It's slightly crude and rudimentary, but it will give the user the clue you desire them to have.Steve Clark, MCTS | Twin-Soft.com

Hi Gavin, If you are using MOSS 2007 then you can use content query to pull content from document libraries using content type filtering. hth,-- techChirag

You could also use the 'Link to a Document' content type. http://www.sharepointology.com/general/link-to-a-document-in-another-document-library/ - M- Michael Mukalian - 2010 MS MVP SharePoint Services - MCTS: MOSS 2007 Configuration - http://www.mukalian.com/blog
