Linking Group in different OU's in the same domain
Hi, I think this is something that is pretty easy, but I can't get my head around how I can perform this within FIM. What I want to do is link a set of groups in one OU to a set of groups in another OU within the same domain. For example, in the OU called Action, there will be security groups with a name such as Action_Security_1. There will then be another OU entitled Task, with security groups with a naming convention such as Task_Security_1. What I would want is for once a group is created (manually or via the FIM portal) in the Action OU, for FIM to then create a group in the Task OU and have these two groups have the same membership etc. I can easily get FIM to do this if I'm using an HR platform to sync with AD, but not when the one AD domain is the source and target. Am I missing something completely obvious here? Apologies if this is a dumb question but I'm still finding my feet with FIM. Many thanks.

You could simply import groups from AD and have the sync rule create the resource in FIM. You'd need to filter the application of the outbound rules or something in order to get groups created in the right places. My Book - Active Directory, 4th Edition My Blog - www.briandesmond.com
