Line up columns in Report with multiple subreports within the same tablix
I have a Reporting Services 2008 report that has multiple subreports within the same tablix. The columns on the subreports do not match up. Especially noticable when the report covers more than 1 page. I have tried making the tablix the same size on each subreport and setting all the paddings to zero. I am still getting report alignment issues. I have to have multiple subreports becuase of how the data is stored in the SQL Server 2008 database. Am I missing something or is there a trick that makes the clumns line up? The report is automatically exported to a PDF. Thanks Bev B Duncan

I am not sure, but can you please try Subreport property KeepTogether= true. this might do trick for you. Gaurav Gupta http://sqlservermsbiblog.blogspot.com/

I tried that and it did not help plus it makes my report many more pages long as tries to keep all that data together which could be many lines. Got any other ideas? Thanks BevB Duncan

Try using rectangle, Put all the Tablix into the rectangle. remove any white space if there any in body, than put all sub report part(component) in to a Rectangle and see if it works. i know its bit lengthy work... but thats the only idea i have right now. Hi Bev Duncan, SomeTimes, displaying the subreport in the main report does exist some margin issue due to this method's disadvantage. You have to delete all the blank space around the data region. Thanks, Challen Fu

Hi Challen Fu, When you say remove all the blank space around the data region, do you mean on all the report reports or on the main report? I can't remove all the blank space around the data region on the main report as it contain text boxes, etc. that are required for the report. If you mean just the subreports within the tablix, I have done that and it prints fine on the first page, but any pages after the first have columns that don't line up. Thanks, BevB Duncan

B Duncan Hi Bev Duncan, Since it does not suit for you, currently I cannot reproduce your issue in my environment, could you please post your report picture on the forum or send it to sqltnsp AT microsoft DOT com, if possible, you'd better attach the report and relevant datasource, then with a beginning “hi Challen”, please attach the thread link as well. Once I receive your email, I will give you a feedback as soon as possible. Regards, Challen Fu

Hi Bev Duncan, From your information, I notice that it does not line up only when there is a subreport, so the issue must be relevant to the layout the subreport, Here I would recommend you open the subreport in the design surface, then increase the width of the second column to make sure it line up. Best regards, Challen Fu

Hi Challen, I made the format of the subreport is the same size, padding, etc. as the main report - the column lined up is still an issue. When I attempted to make the columns bigger, etc. to match up on the second page, the first of the report is then off. I tried putting tables in rectangles for both main report and subreport (that was suggested) above and that did not make any difference (page 1 looks fine, any page after does not line up). Can you explain what has changed in VS 2008 - Reporting Services 2008 to make the columns print differently from VS 2005 - Reporting Services 2008? I didn't this problem when the report was in VS 2005. Thanks, Bev B Duncan
