I am creating line graph using BIDS 2005 ( VS 2005). When I select chart type to line , I do not see a line graph insteady Scatter dots in graph surface appears. I have tried to add screen capture for more visualize the question but for some reason I can not paste here. I can easily switch my chart type into other hart types like Columan,Bar,Pie, XY (Scatter),...etc except Line chart. Line chart never come up on report surface. I have deleted category field and series field and repopulated that either didn't solve the issue. Please any one give me idea or suggestion. Thanks,

Hi, When you add a chart without any dataset field filled up, then can you switch the Chart to line graph? If that is ok, please give your dataset sample here so that we maybe repro your issue and find its root cause for you. thanks, Jerry

Hi Jerry, Yes, I can switch to line graph for the chart without any dataset field. My chart graph displays Year( 1998 - 2007) in X - axis and Rate(%) in Y- axis. My report dataset has the following datasets:- Filing_year_alt_ID Region State initial application initial allowance And Filing_Year_Alt_ID is my category field and region state group is my series field. And there is expression that determines the nature of line graph rate type. Let me know if you need anything else. Thank You,

Finally I got the trick. I am able to switch to line graph after I edit property data field. Follow to manuplate the behaviour of your line graph in SSRS 2005:- 1, Right click data field which is located at the top of graph and select propert that prompeties dialoge window 2, Go to appearance tab and click series style which inturn prompts style properties window 3, From style properties window click Border and line there you can select style, width and color of line 4.On style drop down box set style solid to see line in solid line. Becareful here, if the style is selected None the line graph shows scatter dots even if you select line chart type. If steps is not clear let me know. Thanks!mercyme
