Line Chart DisContinuation in SSRS2008
I have a report in SSRS 2005. I have migrated the report to SSRS 2008 R2. The report has a "line with markers" chart. ISSUE IS : The line chart shows discontinuation in case there is some null data present in it. ,unlike 2005 where the null values were ignored and the line continues from the last to the latest value. Requirement : The line chart should continue to the next value even if some data is null for some category.

Prakash, You can follow this: Select your line graph, click the Properties tab (present at right-hand side of your BIDS solution) Go, to custom properties and change the Empty Point value to Average. Under the EmptyPoint Attributes, set the Color Property to the color you are using for your series. Regards, Manoj *Happy to help http://fascinatingsql.wordpress.com/

Appreciate your quick response. I am using the default coloring in the series. In my report the series is dynamic i.e, it can have 2,3,4 series depending on the data. So I cannot put/fix the color of the series in the line graph.

prakash, Either, For every series, assign the same default color in Empty Point attributes or You need to restrict null(or zero) values in the query itself. Regards, Manoj *Happy to help http://fascinatingsql.wordpress.com/

a quick update : in 2005 the empty points are ignored and connected to the next available datapoint else straight line is drawn. depending on the business requirement it could leed to wrong conclusion. SO in 2008 the empty points are left blank and in case no value exists there is a discontinuity in the line chart which can be replaced by Zero if required.
