Limit on file size for XML source
Hi, I'm using an XML source and flat file destination. I would like to know what is the limit of the XML that SSIS can support i.e with respect to the XML file size. In case i need to dynamically pass the XML content as a string by defining a variable, is this possible and also what would be the limit for this string variable. Thanks, Smeetha

As such ther eis no limit to the size of XML is concerned. As far as variable size is concerned there is no limit to the size the variable can hold. Yes it would depend on the system configuration though. My Blog | Ask Me

There would be some limit less than 2GB for 32-bit installations, and an allocatable RAM limit for 64-bit installations. The XML Source in SSIS uses the one of the two models for reading and managing XML - the one that reads it all in at once, not the streaming one. You could get around this limit by reading the XML yourself in a Script Source and using the other XML processing model - the streaming one. Talk to me now on
