Licensing rules when upgrading hardware - SQL Server
So I have 3 servers now that are using the 12 licenses between them (2 are production, one is test). We are in the process of building out 3 new servers - we want to install SQL server on these new servers (still only 12 CPUs total). Question is, during the transition period when we have both the old servers running and the new servers, do we have a certain amount of grace period to complete the cut-over? I don't want to have to purchase 12 additional licenses (ACK) just for a transitional period. Once we cutover to the new servers, SQL server will be uninstalled from the old ones. This is a hardware refresh project....

We have no clue in this forum about licensing for SCCM and especially for SQL. Your best bet is to call the licensing help desk at MS or ask your TAM. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

Hi, This forum is for Configuration Manager related questions. For SQL you should ask in the SQL forum - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/category/sqlserver/Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund
