Latency and bandwidth requirements
Hi, I was wondering what the minimum required bandwith and latency is between the Root Management Server and a Management Server. The Management Server will have around 150 agents reporting to it.

The rms, ms and databases should be on fast links, typically they are on the same subnet. when you have a remote location on a slow link you shouldnt place a ms there, either a gateway or have the agents report to the management server in the central environment directly (a gateway would lower the bandwidth needed, if that really is an issue).Rob Korving http://jama00.wordpress.com/

Please define fast and slow. I need numbers to state my requirements with the network team.

See: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309428.aspx But keep in mind these are minimum values. Typically the fast connection for direct communication with the databases should be a local LAN connection (1 Gb preferred).Regards, Marc Klaver http://jama00.wordpress.com/

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309428.aspx here are the supported configurations as well as the minimum required bandwidth. imho the bandwidth between a management server and db is way to low here (imho a >100mbps network needed), Just keep in mind that it really depends on how much data your are going to collect and how healthy your environment is and how many agents you need to support. edit marc, beat me too it...
