Hi How can you see which version (basic, SP1, SP2) of a language pack that is installed on a MOSS Farm. If Language pack SP1 is installed it doesn't show up in Add/Remove Programs so where can you verify the installed version? Best regards, Niclas

Hi Thanks for your answer. The problem I have is that the language packs versions doesn't seem to update even if you add a service pack for the language pack. The problem we have is that we're creating a new test environment that should be a replica of the production environment. We have verified that Service Pack 1 have been installed but we're not sure if the language packs sp1 have been installed. The version number that you get for the language pack in "Add/Remove programs" doesn't change when a language service pack have been installed (I have checked this in a development environment). I also haven't been able to find the version numbers for any other language packs anywhere in the database or in central admin. Hopefully the administrators that installed the production enviroment also installed the language pack sp1 but as for now we can't verify it. Another "funny" thing is that we have seen in the production environment that only the language packs for MOSS have been installed. In every documentation we have found it says that the WSS language packs has to be installed first and then the language packs for MOSS. This is however not the scenario in our production environment and it has been running without problems for several years. If we look at the img file for a MOSS language pack there is a WSS folder inside so maybe WSS languages are included in the MOSS language pack? Best regards, Niclas

Sorry about misreading your original post. (So many people have earlier asked the question I thought I was answering). BUT one thing is 100% sure. You *must* install first WSS 3.0 Service Packs and then MOSS 2007 Service Packs. There are many documented cases with problems that were caused by not doing so (i.e. posts to the forums here that were solved by re-doing the SP installation to include WSS before MOSS) so if you have done without you have just been lucky and your luck can run out at any time. Best to do it properly now. But how to remove the MOSS LP SP if it is not listed ? 2010 Books: SPF 2010; SPS 2010; SPD 2010; InfoPath 2010; Workflow etc. 2007 Books: WSS 3.0; MOSS 2007; SPD 2007; InfoPath 2007; PerformancePoint; SSRS; Workflow Both lists also include books in French; German; Spanish with even more languages in the 2007 list.

Hi Mike It's all confusing... We didn't do the original installation in 2007 so we really can't tell what they did install. You say that WSS LP has to be installed first otherwise there will be problems. As the platform has been running fine for three years now I assume that they did install the WSS LP but that it just doesn't show up in "Add/Remove programs". Hi Yes, I know that I can do that but now it seems clear that the platform have only been installed with the MOSS language pack. It seems to be working fine and my suspiscion is that it's because the WSS language pack is included in the MOSS. I know that the official information is to install the WSS separately but why is there then a special WSS folder in the MOSS language pack img file? When you only install the MOSS language pack the WSS doesn't show up in Add/Remove programs but is found in the registry. Of course I wouldn't recommend anyone to skip the MS recommendations, I just would like to tell what I found. I will add the language service packs for both WSS and MOSS to our platform and if any new languages will be added, then I'll add both WSS and MOSS. Best regards, Niclas
