KB2882822 causing problems with Sharepoint Timer

We found out that after last round of patching SharePoint cannot remove old log files from disk.

Usage files located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\logs can not be removed as they are hold in memory by SharePoint OWS Timer.

As the files are constantly hold in memory this is increasing memory usage and after few days memory is used up to 100%.

After restart of SharePoint Timer service old usage log files are deleted.

ERROR from Log file:

Is there any fix for this at the moment?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

According to your post, my understanding is that after restarting of SharePoint Timer service you got error from Log file.

I suggest to uninstal KB2882822 and check if the issue happens again.

If the issue still exist, please check if the following Windows KB is installed on your SharePoint Server: 2775511 (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2775511). If yes, please try to uninstall it.

Here is a similar thread for you to take a look at:

I've noticed that this has now resurfaced in the past couple months.  I'm currently trying to figure what "new" KB may be causing this.  Anyone seen this issue after installing KB3042553?

I started seeing the issue as soon as I installed the June 2015 patches, which I did just yesterday. I installed KB3042553 on 5/13 and it has not been an issue. I most certainly started seeing problem with June 2015 patches, I just need to figure out which one is the problem.

KB2882822 previously caused this issue for me. I had previously uninstalled this KB, but noticed that it got installed again with the June or July 2015 updates. However, after uninstalling KB2882822 again, this time the issue does NOT seem to be resolved, even after rebooting the server.

Brandon Bowlin or M.Harp - Is KB2882822 installed for you, and does uninstalling it fix the usage logs issue for you?

Thanks,

Mario
