KB2345551
Yes its 2008 R2. I sorta answered my own question with this. I rebuilt the site about a month ago and re-installed all the patches. It turns out that if you do not uninstall through Programs and Features -> Installed Updates first, then install/re-install the patch, it wont overwrite the proper files even though it completes successfully. What a way to throw me for a loop... Now if there was a better way to get around "Unable to create the CCM_Incoming virtual directory" error other than uninstalling BITS and reinstalling... I'd be a happy camper. It sure makes patching/upgrading the server a pain. Allen Anderson Systems Analyst Arizona State University - OKED Knowledge Informatics

We have a disjoint namespace and AD System Discovery is still failing after installation of KB2345551. Here is a snippet of the log: Starting the data discovery. It should be *.dhcp.asu.edu and not asurite.ad.asu.edu (the server has a DNS suffix asurite.ad.asu.edu). I've added both suffix to the DNS suffix list and put dhcp.asu.edu at the top of the list. It seems configmgr is ignoring it entirely. I can ping the client via IP, NetBIOS name, and FQDN. I've installed the hotfix to see if it will resolve it and it seems to be unsuccessful. The hotfix claims it has installed successfully but I only see 1 of the 5 files it replaces (adsource.dll) with a date of 2/1/2010. Is this normal for this hotifx? The hotfix is listed in the programs control applet and I can verify it completed successfully in the System logs. The server can contact and read objects from AD, it just cant contact the client because its using the wrong DNS suffix. ERROR: GetIPAddr - getaddrinfo() for 'VPR1FQS5J1.asurite.ad.asu.edu' failed with error code 11004. SMS_AD_SYSTEM_DISCOVERY_AGENT 7/5/2011 8:20:02 AM 4184 (0x1058) Its unable to ping the client via VPR1FQS5J1.asurite.ad.asu.edu because the actual FQDN of the client is VPR1FQS5J1.dhcp.asu.edu. Pinging the client from the server via the correct FQDN works properly, so does pinging it via netBIOS. I've added both suffixes to the DNS suffix list on the server. Pinging the computer via netBIOS will resolve to VPR1FQS5J1.dhcp.asu.edu as it should but SCCM keeps trying to connect to the client via VPR1FQS5J1.asurite.ad.asu.edu, which is incorrect.Allen Anderson Systems Analyst Arizona State University - OKED Knowledge Informatics

Time to call CSS then as the hotfix is supposed to address exactly what you're describing to my knowledge. Is your site server on Server 2008 R2?Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

I have used this hotfix before and do remember it fixing the issue. Are you sure the hotfix is installed? Did you check in the updates list in the Programs control panel aplet? The hotfix installation wrapper will finish without any big red x's or flags even if it does nt install successfully. Please note above though that it does not show a single system; An error for DNS resolution for asurite2 is not listed above though, on the DNS resolution for VPR1FQS5J1. You may want to examine the log further (not discounting your issue, just pointing out that the log snippet above does not contain the process for a single system so you may be interpreting is incorrectly).Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys
