I tried to install and it said already installed. This is great. But I'm wondering.. I have a non-technical site admin who asked for this. It's unclear, but how exactly will site admins/site owners use multilanguage features in SharePoint?? I'm looking for a feature, a template or a setting or something, somewhere now that it's installed. I saw a list of language IDs in a guide with no evident sharePoint Administration steps. Thanks.

Hi JCNet, I MOSS 2007 a common approach for supporting multiple languages is to use varations. Basically, varations are a replication mechanism. When enabled a root varation is created which is then replicated to labels for the languages you wish to translate a site into such a Spanish, French, etc. Varations will replicate new pages and updates to the lables. Subsites are also replicated. Varations will not automatically translate content for you. Not all content will be replicated automatically. Replicated content is placed in draft mode until approved by an administrator. Dennis Bottjer | Blog: www.DennisBottjer.com | Follow Me: www.twitter.com/dbottjer | Blog: Dennis Bottjer.com

Thank you Dennis, I'm not finding anything in native MOSS 2007 or any example. Is the presumption that this is only for use in custom coded solutions? I guess my question is.. can a end user with out of the box MOSS 2007 sp2 create multilanguage content? and how would this user determine which language to present to the client? In the past I;ve looked at multlanguge / region in .NET and understood how I could implement. But wondering if .NET offers a UI interface for implementing without code something custom?

If you install an alternate language pack on SharePoint then a dropdown will appear when a new site is being created asking what language you would like to create the site in. All prompts and labeling for the new site will be translatted to the language chose. There is also a feature called variations that is available in a publishing environment. Variations will automatically create parallel sites in alternate languages you specify when a new site or new publishing page is created. it won't translate the content for you, but it will maintain a parallel heirarchy that can be browsed automatically based on the language setting of the client browser. Only languages for installed language packs can be used in variations.Paul Stork SharePoint Server MVP
