Javacript error-Element Not found init.js
I recently reimaged my pc to Win7 and IE 8 and now in numerous SP 2007 sites, i am getting a javascript error "Element Not Found init.js line 1909 code 0 char 4". Others on my team are not getting this error. I have emptied my browsers temp folder and the tried moving the site from Intranet zone to Trusted sites. Any other ideas on what I can do to fix would be greatly appreciated, TIA DeanDean MCTS-SQL 2005 Business Intelligence

Hi, I think the error is beacuse of IE 8: try to open the same site in IE 6 or using Firefox, I think you will not see that error. Check for the init.js file at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033 and look for the line 1909 ..... Hope this helps.... Harish

I've started to get the same error - on a different line (Line 2343, Char 3). I'll post back if I find any information or a fix [edit] - line 1909 looks like the end of an if statement about stylesheets and 2343 is and if statement about IMNControlObj. Ben

I've just tried this --> http://www.benstegink.com/2010/06/01/internet-explorer-sharepoint-init-js-error/ it seems to have worked for me. Thanks Ben

I had this problem too. Had SP Designer 2007 and Office 2010 installed (of course also IE 8 as I'm still using WinXP). I fixed this problem by repairing the whole Office 2010 installation! I also have another user in the company who isn't using SP Designer, so I really think it came from a component of Office 2010.. Repairing Office will help :)
