Items deleted from a site are not visiable to the deleter or site owner, only the site-collection-administrator
MOSS 2007 Recycle Bin Issues - Items deleted from a site are not visiable to the deleter or site owner, only the site-collection-administrator
Senario:
User A is the deleter
User B is the site owner/admin
User C is the sysadmin/site-collection-admin
User A deletes an item from the calendar. User A cannot see what they deleted.
User B (owner) goes to the site recycle bin, sees nothing.
User C can see all from the Site-Collection-Recycle Bin.
Any clue as to what my problem is. I am thinking permissions based, but im not sure what permissions are required. I would think is User A has the ability to delete then the same permission that grants that ability also allows them to see whats in
the recycle bin.
User B is the site owner with full rights to the site. However I know their are many places to look and I can start, but any direction would be beneficial.

Hi,
As far as i know, You need to be a Site Collection Administrator to see all the files in
Recycle Bin.That is why user A and B are not able to see the deleted item.
Is User B able to see below links in Recycle Bin?
Deleted from end user Recycle Bin
End user Recycle Bin items
Hope this info will help youCheers, Hemendra-MCTS "Yesterday is just a memory,Tomorrow we may never see"

I was under the impressions that if User A deleted something, then User A should be able to see what they deleted.
They person making the complaint is User B, she states that a previous Sharepoint Site she used to manage, she was able to see what User A deleted as the owner of the site but she was not the Site Collection Administrator.

Users can only see what they themselves have deleted. Only a site collection administrator can see what others have deleted (perhaps this user was originally listed as a site collection administrator and they didn't know it). It's also possible
that there was a custom solution deployed which allowed User B to see what others have deleted?
Lastly, it is also possible that User B had set an alert up on the list/library so that they were notified (via email) whenever anything was deleted. Perhaps that's what they are thinking of.
EDIT - On user's not being able to see their own deleted items - You may want to check the Recycle Bin settings in Central Admin. Go to Central Admin>Application Management>Web application general settings and scroll down to
the "Recycle Bin" section. Recycle Bin Status should be "On" and "Delete items in the Recycle Bin" should at least be greater than 0 (default is 30 days).

Based on the above I think she may have been a Site Collection Administrator, she didnt recall having to click the link "Site Collection Recycle Bin".
Go to Central Admin>Application Management>Web application general settings both are configured as suggested.
