Issues with views created on a list in a WSS 2.0 Site
There is a custom list with about 30 columns on one of our WSS 2.0 Sharepoint sites. Site owner created about 6 views on this particular list. When we are trying to open one of the views it never loads. The status bar on the bottom just continously says loading but never does. On another view of the same list the view opens, however we are unable to edit the items...the dropdown edit item menu doesnt show up. Both these issues happen only to some users in their team and not all of them....It does happen to me as well inspite of logging in with farm admin rights. The list however has large number of items (close to 100 or more) and is very frequently used pretty much everyday by their team. Could this be a browser issue ? All our machines have IE7. Not really sure how to troubleshoot it when it is randomly occurring with some and not with all. Thank you !

Given that WSS 2.0 is 8 years old now, the browser it was targeted to was probably IE 6 at best. I would try an IE6 browser and see if it solves the problem. If it does, then you'd have to use IE6 or upgrade to WSS 3.0 or event better SPF. I trust that answers your question... Thanks C http://www.cjvandyk.com/blog

Hi ChanelGK, Thank you for share your problem. I think the problem may be caused by that you don’t give enough rights and permissions to the users to display the view. View-level permission settings in Column/View Permission control whether SharePoint list views are visible or hidden. Could you please try to change the View-Level Permission of the users to solve this issue? You can check this article, maybe you can get more help from it: http://www.sharepointboost.com/columnpermission.html. Hope this could help you. Regards.

Hello Peng Lei, User and me are both site administrators and so we have more than enough rights to the view. I do not beleive it has to do with permissions as some of the users who only have modify rights on the site and the list are able to load and edit all the different views of the list with no issues. There are no view level permissions set as far as i know Cornelius, IE7 is a company standard that our IT dept follows and so i am not sure rolling back to IE6 is an option for us. Thank you
