Issues with WSS 3.0 and a client running Win 7 64 Bit
In my organisation we are starting to deploy 64bit Windows 7 and Office 2010 - mixture of 32 bit and 64 bit. Up till now we have had no problems when working with our SharePoint sites - WSS 3.0 running Windows Server 2003 R2 32 bit. That was until I set up a new laptop for my MD. One of the many features he like to use is "View in Explorer". Under IE 64 bit that menu option doesn't appear - not the end of the world. With IE 32 bit the menu option is visible, but nothing happens when selected. I have tried bothe IE 8 and IE 9 with the same results. I had initially installed Office 2010 Pro Plus 64 bit, but when Google searches suggested that there were issues I uninstalled that version and installed the 32 bit version of the same software. Still no joy. Along the way I tried installing SharePoint Designer 2007 as more than one blogger suggested AND I tried installing the Access Database Engine as others had suggested. To be honest I am at a loss. Other computers I have set up with virtually the same set of software appear to work ok. Yesterday I tried a remote desktop session on to one of our servers (Win 2003 R2 64 bit). This has Office 2003 installed. The same problems. Is this an issue with 64 bit windows in general, or an unfortunate combination of things? Anyone out there able to offer me some light? I really don't want to format the HDD and start again!! John
