Issues opening documents
Have a bit of a weird one where people are getting different behaviour when opening the same documents from our intranet hosted on Sharepoint 2007 server. What's happening is that some people are clicking on a document link and if they already have the associated application open (word, excel, etc) then the newly opened document is not opened full screen, and are instead opened on the taskbar as a flashing icon. As these documents are being used for inductions for people with very low computer literacy it is causing quite a few issues as the majority of people are not aware they just need to click on the flashing icon in the taskbar to bring focus to the office document they are wanting to read. So far I think I've narrow this behaviour down to the following conditions; 1. Only occurs when clicking links to documents located on an external training vendors website which references our intranet based links. 2. Only occurs when associated office app is already open. 3. Only occurs for some people, so would appear to be profile based. Other people logged on to the same PC don't get this behaviour. Any suggestions woud be great! All workstations have Office 2003 and IE8 on XP as standard, so I'm a bit stumped as to what is causing these differences. Because this seems to be client based I'm wondering if this could perhaps be something to do with IE mime type settings? Ultimately I would be looking to get this fixed via GPO so I can ensure consistant behaviour across all workstations. Any tips would be really appreciated.
