Issue with silverlight updates December 2014

Hi

I have a problem with Silverlight Updates, and I think it is not linked to my environment only.

I tried to deploy version 5.1.30514 but the download I get for Sccm via WSUS contains version 5.1.30214 instead, even though it should be the newer version.

When I look at my Sccm updates, all are set to expired. I checked why and saw that there were two newer versions (see KB3011970), with internal versions 5.1.31010.0 which was recalled because of problems, and replaced by version 5.1.31211.0.

The problem is that those latest versions do not show up in my SCCM view, and are set to Declined in the Wsus console.

Does one know how I could (and if I should) override the Declined status for the latest version or how I could make the previous version 5.1.30514 to deploy ? I think I could just use SCUP but since the updates are already there...

Thanks in advance

Bruno

override the decline state, then run a SYNC between WSUS and your SUP.  the latest update will then show as deployable

or you can just make an application and deploy with these switches

Silverlight.exe /q /doNotRequireDRMPrompt /ignorewarnings /noupdate

Hi Bruno,

Any update? Have you tried to sync the updates from SCCM console? If you want to deploy the previous version 5.1.30514, you could download it manually, then deploy it by package.

Best Regards,

Joyce

Do Microsoft employees responsible for WSUS monitor this forum?  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!  This Silverlight issue with WSUS has dragged on far too long.  Why is the replacement Silverlight missing from WSUS?  Why wasn't the old one put back so we had any version to install through our standard methods?  This should have been resolved weeks ago!

I wonder too, why Silverlight updates are not offered via WSUS/SCCM? I would like to deploy updates only, not entire separate package everytime when Silverlight will update. I also want to be carefull with Silverlight updates, since it has some influense on Application Catalog functionality.

Currently I only see KB2977218 as expired. Is there newer update fixlet? Has anyone tried to bring new update from WSUS catalog to SCCM SUP?

@yannara - yes, several of us have imported from MUCatalog into WSUS-on-SUP, and then scheduled-sync SUP, and we can easily then (re)deploy as an update via ConfigMgr SUM.

Thank you. I downloaded KB3011970 from MS Catalog, and then resync SUP, but KB3011970 does not appear in console. Any hint on this? I remember doing such trick succsessfully before, long time ago but now.. nothing. Thanks.

Doesnt work like this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/michaelgriswold/archive/2013/03/13/kb2775511-deployment-for-the-sccm-admin.aspx

Got it! Apperently, in my MS Catalog page I had to download or apply update twice, there is new(?) selection something like "Include Updates directly on WSUS" which must be ticked on, so it will not ask for save location.

Something changed!  SCCM 2007 now has the install/update for Silverlight KB2977218 available.  SCCM 2012 does not have any Silverlight updates and this morning's wsyncmgr.log shows all related KBs are superseded. Weird but our prod environment is still SCCM 2007 so at least I can get those systems patched.

Hi

Are there any news regarding this issue? We need to patch through SCCM 2012 Silverlight asap. Was sort of hoping to get it done with the upcoming round of updates...

Silverlight has reset itself in my SCCM 2012 environment.  It's now available as an update and deploys to new machines.  I didn't need to do anything but be patient...

Thanks,

Russell
