Issue with linking documents stored on Sharepoint 2007
Hi I have and issue with linking in objects in word that are stored on Sharepoint (this is why I post the question here as I think it is more relevant) We are using MOSS 2007 and Office 2007 (latest service pack installed no cumulative updates installed) When user tries to create an linked document and they both are stored on Sharepoint user is receiving the message: "The program used to create this object is Package. That program is not installed on your computer. To edit this object, you must install a program that can open the object. " Steps to recreate: In the site collection Library create a test folder Creeate a word document and save it to test folder Create an viso (or excell) document and save it to the same folder Open the word and try to insert an object (linked to a file, not as an icon) Now here is another strange thing when I was recreating the issue i have discovered it does not occour on mySite but it does affect site build with Team Site template. Has anyone had similar issue or could point me in the right direction (examinaton of the logs on server and client side did not reveal any issues. Thanks in advance for any pointers Marek

Hello, This is a known issue - SharePoint has a problem dealing with any linked or embedded content in files. Thanks! TomTom Molskow - SharePoint Architect - Microsoft Community Contributor 2011 Award - Linked-In - SharePoint Gypsy
