Issue with MOSS 2007 alerts
Is there a way to receive task notification via email only when new task is created and assigned to a user? Don't want an email when an document/item is modified. Currently we get emails for both of the above situations, but we don't want a task notification email sent out when the documents are modified.

Hi, You can create a workflow to send alerts to a user a task is created and assigned to a user. I hope this will help you out. Thanks, Rahul Rashu

Hi chanakya, You can disable the Email Notification via that Task list -> Settings -> List Settings -> Advanced Settings. And you can set the “Alert Me” in Actions menu using Administrator account as follow steps. Add all the users in “Send Alerts To” with the task assigned (or will be assigned). Select the option “New item are added”. Select the option “A task is assigned to me”. Click OK. Then the task email notification should be sent to the only user (with his own task) only when the new task is added. Thanks, DanielRegards, Daniel

Hi All, Thanks for your replies... @Daniel: The above solution seems applicable for default task list. But we have a custom task list and I don't see the above menu in there. I did some research and found this custom solution that seems to be the potential resolution. http://advancedalert.codeplex.com/releases/view/14801 However, I am not sure of its success rate. How can we test and verify the results for the above ?

Hi chanakya, If you create the custom task list with the “Tasks” template, it also has the “Actions” menu in the toolbar, and you can try it with the previous steps in the “Alert Me” setting page. Test and Verification is as follow idea: Administrator subscribe the task alert for the 2 users. Create the new different task items for each user and check the email alert results. Modify the task items and check the email alert results. Thanks, DanielRegards, Daniel
