Is there any need to add Localhost as an alternate access mapping?
I have a vendor who created a solution that referenced Localhost and created an AAM zone for it. We are in a Kerberos configuration with our security and I would think Localhost would bypass that / fallback to NTLM. I dunno...just seems like one should never need localhost either to support custom timer jobs, scheduled task, workflows, or search. am I right?

No reason to have //localhost as an AAM.
