Is there a way to export software update packages in SCCM 2012?
Sometimes my packages get corrupted due to failover cluster crashing where my Site Server is being hosted and I want to know if there is a way to export packages?
Thanks

I would fix the underlying problem first instead of creating a workaround ... It's not supported to install the site server on a cluster btw. I don't have access to a console right now, but isn't there the 'export' option when you right click a software
update package?

I was thinking the same thing Torsten, but sadly, no there isn't.
How did you even install on a cluster? Do you mean the DB is installed on a cluster?

No I believe it's just the Failover Cluster feature that is installed on the servers running SCVMM, but I am not the admin for this. It is not an SQL cluster. My Site Server is running on a VM that installed on a host server running FCM and SCVMM, I believe.
Sometimes this cluster crashes and I think when this happens the .vhdx file that the Content Library is stored on may get thrown a bit out of whack and the packages become corrupted. So I am just wondering if there is any way to export the packages in case
the FCM crashes again.

OK, that makes sense.
As mentioned though, there's nothing built in to export the packages. Best thing that I can think of if to create many smaller packages so that if one gets corrupted it's easier to repair.

How do you repair a package? What I do is just highlight all of the software updates in a package and click download and then I create a new package and then I deletethe old one. This works pretty well for me. Is this how you repair, or is there another
method? Thanks Jason

It depends upon what you think is broken (which isn't usually apparent) but yes, that would be one thing to try. Smaller packages would thus make that process a lot quicker.

yeah the download process would be much quicker with smaller ones.
Okay thanks Jason.
