Is there a way to choose an image during pxe boot process?
I was wondering if it's possible to have say 5 images and then manually choose whichever one applies to the computer that I am trying to reimage? I have about 50 brand new computers that are not in sccm and I'm looking for a way to get around having to enter the MAC address into SCCM before being able to reimage them. That seems far more inconvenient than if I could just manually choose an image from a list. Any suggested best practices on this scenario would be welcome as well.

A. Five different task sequences. B. One task sequence with a front end script of some sort (that you create) that allow you pick which image you want to apply and then inside the TS you use conditional logic to determine which image to apply. Mike N.

exactly as Mike says, and if you don't know how, here's how to get a list of task sequences to choose from My step by step SCCM Guides Follow me on Twitter > ncbrady Follow windowsnoob.com on Twitter > windowsnoob

Niall, you always seem to have the questions already answered... :-) And the "twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one" certainly make it easy for people to follow. Nice work. BTW, not sure if you'll get the reference to Alice's Restaurant but I couldn't think of an appropriate Monty Python reference...Mike N.

Just in case anyone finds this useful, here's what I ended up doing: All of my images are now being advertised to the unknown computers collection as an optional installation. Whenever I do an F12 computer with a brand new machine, I have my choice of which operating system to install. At some point, I'd like to just have one image, but packaging software is not the most fun process depending on the software manufacturer. Maybe the industry will catch up at some point, but for the time being it seems like including the programs as part of the image is the easist way to do it at the moment.
