Is there a known good setup for fast file transfer from a sharepoint to a desktop pc, over the vpn?
Hi, Individual transfers are slow and Windows Explorer is now hanging when I try to transfer several files by going to NetworkPlaces to copy then back local drive to paste. This is very tedious. Please suggest me if these is a better way to do this. Thanks.bnarasimharao

Hi Narasimha, You can try using the "SharePoint 2010 Download as Zip File Custom Ribbon Action". http://www.deviantpoint.com/post/2010/05/08/SharePoint-2010-Download-as-Zip-File-Custom-Ribbon-Action.aspx It uses a reference to ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll which is a part of SharpZipLib (a .NET library that is well-used for working with Zip files). The tools (.wsp) needed to implement this feature is available at : WSP file (Site collection feature): DeviantPoint.DownloadZip.wsp (84.84 kb) Visual Studio 2010 Project file: DeviantPoint.DownloadZip.zip (317.01 kb) Hope this helps. I would try using SharePoint Workspace 2010, you can sync on demand or setup a sync schedule. You can even author files locally and sync up to your SharePoint server. Give it a tryIf this helps you then please mark the post as helpful. If this answers your question then mark it as the answer. If another contributor in the thread answers your question then please do the right thing. And as always most answers for SharePoint are based on "It depends"
